Moving on Up - KS4 - KS5

Throughout their time at Rosewood, pupils are provided with a great deal of support both in their education and in the development of their personal and social skills. We hope to equip them suitably for life after leaving us, no matter what path they choose to take. 

 

The transition from Key Stage 4 to leaving school can be daunting for our pupils so we strive to provide them with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their future and the skills required to achieve their goals. 

 

Pupils are encouraged to attend work experience in year 11 and school support is provided to ensure they get the most out of their placements, staff make arrangements on behalf of the pupils in order to set up suitable placements who are aware of their individual needs. 

 

Pupils throughout Key Stage 4 have the opportunity to attend many visits to colleges and other providers to allow them to get a feel for a setting and ensure they are making the right decisions for their future.

 

The Skills Show visit is an excellent opportunity for pupils to get an insight into various different career paths and an idea of the requirements to progress into their chosen area. Every Key Stage 4 pupil has an opportunity to attend the Skills Show with members of our staff who encourage them to engage with providers and discuss their plans for their future. There’s also always a host of interesting and fun activities for the pupils to engage in which have helped our boys make informed choices in the past!

 

Where appropriate, travel training is provided to our pupils to ensure that they have the necessary social skills to travel independently to any placement they plan to attend, and this complements the work on functional Maths skills of reading timetables and handling money that is done in lessons.

 

We have a Connexions PA assigned to our school who spends time advising our pupils and supporting them to complete applications for their chosen pathways, which complements the work of the Social Vocational team.
